1. The worst thing you can ever do is look up a symptom or an ailment on Google. Do you know this already? Yeah, I do too. Yet when my doctor told me I had a mild vitamin B12 deficiency – “Not even really a cause for concern,” he said – I immediately looked it up on Google. And was regaled with the horrors of vitamin B12 deficiency in all its glory. You know, like bleeding from the eyes and webbed feet and DEATH. (Slight overexaggeration.)
Don’t ever ask Dr. Google for enlightenment. Although, if you are anything like me, you will anyway.
2. Speaking of unqualified doctors. I love to self-diagnose. Myself. Hmm.
Anyway. I am always certain I know exactly what’s wrong with me. Which usually involves worst case scenarios and some mild hysteria. So when I found out I had the B12 deficiency, I immediately decided that’s why I’ve been so tired lately.
Apparently, not so. According to the ACTUAL physicians in my family, B12 deficiency can lead to anemia, which can lead to tiredness… But by itself, the B12 deficiency isn’t really related.
“You work too much. And don’t sleep well. That’s why you’re tired.”
3. I really enjoy the Big Bang Theory. There’s just something about physics jokes that I find fresh and charming. Yet it’s one of those shows that makes my husband roll his eyes and make constant commentary like “why is that funny?” and “this show is so stupid, I can’t believe you watch it.” Well, I feel the same way about Glenn Beck. So there.
4. So, the spider. I did not see it again. However, I did see TWO ADDITIONAL spiders on consecutive days since the first Spider Spotting. One of them, I was able to gently smush in a piece of toilet tissue and flush away into oblivion.
The other one… I shudder just to think about this – I seriously could not fall asleep afterward… It, um, hang-glided itself into our HEATING VENT. Ew ew ewewewewew.
5. I love love love shopping for Christmas presents. Especially for my husband. I love to spoil him – and he’s easy to shop for because I know what he likes. My parents, they are much harder.
6. I hate hate hate coming up with a list of things I want for Christmas. It’s HARD. And it feels so selfish. And then what if you get the necklace you’ve been drooling over on the Banana site and it doesn’t look good on your neck? What do you do then? I mean, you ASKED for the damn thing, so why the hell don’t you like it?
7. Why do I love CSI and CSI: New York… yet despise stupid CSI: Miami?
8. This time, exactly one year ago, I spent nearly eight hours in the car with my mother, driving to the tiny western town where I would get married. The ground was only very slightly snow-covered. The sky was this incredible blue. It was 50ish degrees.
9. My plan – if work doesn’t overtake me this week, which it is threatening to do – is to post a little tidbit about the wedding each day leading up to our anniversary. I hope you enjoy. But if not, I will, because I love remembering.
10. I love poetry. So here is one of the love poems we had set up on tables throughout the reception.
Short Talk on le Bonheur d’Être
By Anne Carson
Day after day I think of you as soon as I
wake up. Someone has put cries of
birds on the air like jewels.
I love the randoms. Oh, and I have been meaning to write and thank you for your dress suggestions for the boots 🙂 And how did you know that Anthro and Nordstrom are my favorite stores? So perfect. Anyway, yes, thanks for your suggestions, I shall be doing some online shopping now 🙂
Oh! I would love wedding tid bits! 🙂
Google was my enemy when I was preggers. I was always freaking myself out. Ah ha
I can’t WAIT for wedding details. I have a LOVE for all that is love (I am sure you have figured that out by now! lol)
The spider – stress me out.
Christmas present requests – stress me out.
Annnnnd I am the queen of google trouble. When in doubt… step AWAY from google 😉
(I am planning on emailing your shortly… I appreciate you more than you know lovely lady!)
I can relate. I am THE hypochondriac of all time.
Love this post! Love the poetry idea. I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with a creative idea to put on each table!!
