This morning has not started off on the right foot.
First of all, I was awakened 10 minutes before my alarm went off by my husband’s alarm. Which he’d forgotten to turn off before he’d skipped off into the bathroom to luxuriate under the warm water of a morning shower.
Do you see how I portray him as gleefully leaving the alarm on to bother me and then escaping to a spa-like oasis? That is how I FELT, although I’m sure that’s not what he INTENDED. Because he is kind and normally very careful about turning off his alarm so as not to wake his morning grouch sleeping beauty of a wife.
Then I did work for an hour. After completing two projects – which is very satisfying – I heard a loud metallic banging from outside the window.
Turns out, some maintenance workers were preparing for maintenance of some sort right outside my apartment. And one maintenance worker had apparently spotted some crusty gunk of some sort inside his wheelbarrow and he was using a sledgehammer to remove it. Loudly. And with much gusto.
It was 8:05 in the morning, Internet.
Even if that is a perfectly fine hour for doing maintenance – which, if I were still sleeping, it would most certainly NOT be – it is DEFINITELY not a perfectly fine hour for using a heavy metal sledgehammer to thwack the dirt out of your giant metal wheelbarrow.
8:05 in the morning.
So I did what any grouchy normal person would do.
I slammed the window shut very loudly, to point out that the maintenance workers are giant noisy jerkwads who are BOTHERING me.
And I immediately scampered away from the window so that the maintenance workers wouldn’t see me.
My only regret is that I didn’t get to see their looks of ambivalence leering glee apologetic shock when I slammed the window.
It worked, by the way. They stopped “cleaning” the wheelbarrow with the sledgehammer and are now jackhammering something in the distance.
Now I am self-medicating my passive aggression with a Honey Crisp apple, some English Breakfast tea, and a quick blog fix before I once again immerse myself in work.
