Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our…
Wait. Sorry. This is NOT a daytime soap. What I’m trying to say is, can you believe it’s freaking AUGUST, Internet? Where the eff has the summer gone?
In honor of the day, I am playing along with Getting to Know You Sunday. Join in at MannLand5.
1. If you were to win an award today, what would it be for?
Well, today I am up for a Sleepaholic Gold Medal. Heck, let’s make it a Platinum Medal. Yesterday, I slept in until eleven o’clock. Today, I woke up at 10:17. This is not normal (for me), Internet! What am I doing wasting the day when the summer is slipping by so quickly?!?
2. What is your shoe style?
I am a four-inch-stiletto kind of gal. However, I do sometimes cheat and go with four-inch wedges instead. More comfy and less teetery.
3 Does your car reflect your personality?
I drive a navy blue Honda CR-V with a manual transmission. It’s conservative… Roomy… Gets good gas mileage… Kind of tricky if you don’t drive stick… Annoying on hills or in stop-and-go traffic… Needs a lot of maintenance (mainly because I don’t drive it often)… And hasn’t been to the car wash in ages.
So yes. I’d say it reflects my personality to a T!
4. If you could take over someone’s body for a day, whose would you choose?
Okay, if we’re talking pure vanity here I would swap bodies with Evangeline Lily in a second. (As long as body includes face.) Or maybe Kim Kardashian. I mean, how often do you get to test drive that kind of rear end without having to try to buy pants for it?
But I would also be SO CURIOUS to be in my husband’s shoes for a day. To see what he thinks about in that inscrutable brain of his… To have his, ahem, equipment… To see what it’s like to be a doctor… And, most of all, to see what it’s like to be married to ME!
5. Love or be loved?
Oh man, I don’t think you can have one without the other. But I guess I would choose “be loved” because I’m selfish like that. I’ve loved someone before when it wasn’t returned… And that’s awful. It breaks your heart every minute. I have also been on the other end, though… It’s no picnic when you know someone is crushing on you hardcore and you don’t feel the same. But hey, it’s a head trip. Who doesn’t enjoy being the object of someone’s adoration?
6. If you were on death row, what last meal would you choose?
This answer would probably change every day. But today, I would choose a big pile of tacos, some chips and guacamole on the side, a glass pitcher of margaritas, and a big ol’ slice of cheesecake smothered in fresh raspberries for dessert.
7. Have you been on vacation this summer, if so where?
I’ve spent a week at my in-laws’ and a week at my parents’… but since I worked during both trips, I guess I can’t say I’ve been on an actual vacation. I do have a mini vacation coming up – to Napa Valley! So I’m really excited about that.
8. What is your favorite food related guilty pleasure?
Cheese. I didn’t realize what a fixation it was for me until I started trying to revamp my eating style (ie, lose weight). But I love to pile cheese on everything. Burritos. Tacos. Nachos. Load up some brie on a plate and eat that. Mmmmm cheese.
* * * * *
Happy Sunday, Internet! I hope your August is the best month yet!

Cheese is my love/nemesis too. Also, I wish I could be a 4 inch stiletto kinda girl. I have them, but I rarely wear them since I’m 5’8ish to begin with.
Nice. This is very interesting. Cheese is wonderful; I could NEVER be vegan. Ever.
Hey there… I have an award for you at my blog! Come check it out!
We slept in until 7am this morning…we were excited. How sad is that?! I would have LOVED to sleep in until 10ish.
Napa Valley?! SO exciting!!! Are you going to be enjoying some vino, I hope?
I’ve recently figured out that I’m lactose intolerant. It’s awful that I now have to view cheese as a potential enemy. I miss it…
I loved your post about the china. Beautifully told. I inherited a wonderful chair, clock and set of glass dishes from my grandparents. From my great aunt, I inherited her old sewing machine (she was owned a hat/dress shop). Every time I open the carrying case, it smells like my grandparents. I miss them…
“equipment” – hahahaha. I’ve tried to consider that before… but then decided I didn’t want to go there.
JEALOUS of Napa! I could really do some damage there. Four-inch stilettos? I am impressed.
I’d love to see what life’s like from my husband’s standpoint, too. It’s weird to share so much with one person but really have no idea what it’s like to be them!
We have a lot in common. I would love to see the world through my husband’s eyes too.
Oh how I love cheese, too. Although, I don’t like to put a ton of cheese on things (because I can’t really taste it that way), but I love to eat cheese by itself or in cheese dip. mmmmmm.
You totally sound like a car advertisement in your answer about what kind of car you drive. I admire you for driving a manual…I never got the hang of that…
I love cheese too!! I will find a reason to pile it on something. My hubby is lactose intolerant. I do not know what I would do if that ever happened to me!!
Napa! So jealous! I would like to be my husband for a day, too. MAYBE. What if I saw myself in a new, really bad way that you can’t take back? Not like behavior or attitudes I could fix. What I looked at me and saw my saddle bags or something? I’d be a lot less confident in the bedroom after that! I know this is so cliche, but really, if I could change shoes with anyone, I’d really just want to know what you know what feels like for a guy!
